Shell Colorful

My mom found this big shell on a trip to Corpus Christi, TX several years ago. I still have both halves, and part of it was keeping them stuck together when she gave it to me. Sadly, after many moves the halves came apart.

I picked up one side to use so I could play with my 50mm lens and +2/+4 macro rings. A lot of the shots came out with nothing really in focus (I may need to get my eyes checked…), but several worked out. I started with my black background indoors next to a window, and then I moved outside just to see what would happen. That’s how I ended up with this shot; the muted colors in the background are things in my back yard!

Brush Action

I took some photos for a department at work of high school kids volunteering during a summer camp. They went to Lifeworks, a really cool place that helps high-risk kids and teens. There were several projects going on, and this photo is from one group painting old picnic tables a beautiful blue.

Blue Ribbon Macro

I recently bought a set of macro screw-on filters, and they’re so much fun. I had a hard time focusing using the +10, so I’ll have to practice more with that one. This photo was taken with either +2 or +4.

The blue explosion is part of a fancy, poofy thing from a present I received recently. I love bright and shiny things, so much so that one of my bosses calls me a magpie. I also like the rich blue color of the ribbon loops. More shiny stuff tomorrow!
